Biography
In this album there are four musical groups that accompany the Ramayana dance from four cultural areas in Indonesia. These areas are West Java (Sunda), Jogjakarta, Central Java (Surakarta), and Bali. The groups are as follows:
- The Orchestra of Associated Musicians Under Auspices of the Regional Committee of the International Ramayana in Bandung, lead by R. Sjabar Riswara K.
- The Karawitan Orchestra of the ASTI (Academy of Dance in the Jogjakarta), lead by Kawindrosutikno.
- The Karawitan Orchestra of the KOKAR (Conservartory of Karawitan) in Surakarta, lead by Marto Pangrawit
- The Karawitan Orchestra of the KOKAR (Conservartory of Karawitan) in Denpasar, lead by I Wayan Beratha
About Album
Ramayana International recorded and released by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia through the Institute of Musicology and Choreography in Jakarta. In commemoration of the International Ramayana Festival in Candra Wilwatikta, Pandaan, East Java, in September 1971.
Story
On Tuesday, August 31, 1971, the Ramayana International Art Festival was inaugurated by President Soeharto at 19.00 in Pandaan, Malang, East Java. The opening was marked by three beatings of the gong on the Chandra Wilwatikta stage. After that, participants from Burma, India, Khmer, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia performed excerpts from the stories of the Ramayana with their respective versions.
Ramayana comes from the words Rama and Ayana which means Rama’s journey composed by Valmiki. A story or heroic story about Rama trying to reclaim his wife, Sinta, who was kidnapped by Ravana.
VALUE
The opening of the 1971 Ramayana Festival in Pandaan was carried out by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, namely President Soeharto. This shows the Indonesian government’s concern for the arts and culture sector at that time.

Dalam album ini terdapat empat grup karawitan pengiring tari Ramayana dari empat area budaya di Indonesia. Daerah-daerah tersebut adalah Jawa Barat (Sunda), Jogjakarta, Jawa Tengah (Surakarta), dan Bali. Grup-grup tersebut adalah sebagai berikut:

About Album
Ramayana International yang direkam dan dikeluarkan oleh Kementrian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Republik Indonesia melalui Institut Musikologi dan Koreografi di Jakarta. Dalam rangka memperingati International Festival Ramayana di Candra Wilwatikta, Pandaan, Jawa Timur, pada September 1971.
Story
Pada Selasa, 31 Agustus 1971, Festival Seni Ramayana Internasional ini diresmikan oleh Presiden Soeharto pada jam 19.00 di Pandaan, Malang, Jawa Timur. Pembukaan tersebut ditandai dengan tiga kali pemukulan gong di pentas Chandra Wilwatikta. Setelah itu, peserta-peserta dari Birma, India, Khmer, Malaysia, Muangthai, serta Indonesia mempertunjukkan petikan dari cerita-cerita Ramayana dengan versi masing-masing.
Ramayana berasal dari kata Rama dan Ayana yang berarti perjalanan Rama yang digubah oleh Walmiki. Sebuah cerita atau kisah kepahlawanan tentang Rama yang berusaha merebut kembali istrinya, Sinta, yang diculik oleh Rahwana.
Nilai Penting
Pembukaan Festival Ramayana 1971 di Pandaan dilakukan oleh presiden RI, yaitu Presiden Soeharto. Hal ini menunjukkan kepedulian pemerintah Indonesia terhadap sektor seni budaya pada saat itu.
