The 30th country who become the guest of our website is from the Kingdom of Kuwait (Sunday 23 May 2021), an oil-producing country in the Middle East. Their national anthem is titled An-Nasid al-Watani.
From the MMI collection, we found a CD by a Kuwaiti citizen, Mishary Alafasy. Who is he?
Shaykh Mishary Al-Afasy is a high priest from Kuwait. Known as a world-class reciter after previously working as a singer. He has visited Indonesia and met 20,000 Muslims at the Jakarta Convention Center on Sunday September 29, 2019 and immediately visited Solo the next day, Monday September 30, 2019.
This is the first time the famous reciter visited Indonesia. He was also impressed by Indonesia, because the majority of the population is Muslim.
“This is the first time in Indonesia and I was actually late in coming to Indonesia, therefore I apologize that this is the first time I can come to visit,” said Sheikh Mishary Al-Afasy as quoted by Tribunnews (Oct, 2, 2019).
“Indonesia is a country that really loves the Qur’an, even Indonesia has produced many of the best tariqs. I came as a form of love for our brothers in Indonesia,” he said.
Mishary Al-Afasy’s own CD was purchased by the Chairman of MMI at AirPort Abu Dabi in 2013 along with several other CDs from Middle Eastern musicians (HHW).
