A turntable is an electronic vinyl recorder player which this machine has the next-generation technology from the previous manual player machine called Gramophone, which the engine still relies on the coil spring, as used by an old alarm clock, which we have to turn it manually using the crank lever clockwise if we want to operate it. In this turntable, the needle eye is no longer using nails, but is made of carbon or crystal which is connected to the cartridge in a series of head shell. And if the needle touches the vinyl record’s surface until it is rubbed, it will cause a vibration that turns into a sound. Then, there are 4 color wires (red, green, blue, and white) that are connected to the jack to jack/RCA cable, which when connected to a sound amplifier or loudspeaker, it will produce a loud sound, based on the speaker’s power capacity and capabilities.

AKAI AP-005 Belt Drive Turntable, a manual record player, one of the collections in the Museum Musik Indonesia (MMI) which was donated by Donny Hardono, the owner of the Don Sound System (DDS), was sent to the museum 10 years ago.
