Biography
Kedungmonggo is the name of a place in Karangpandan Village, Pakisaji District, Malang Regency. This area is located approximately 10 km south of the city of Malang. To get to Kedungmonggo via the Malang-Blitar highway, after reaching the Bendo T-junction, continue west for approximately 1 km. This area is located at an altitude between 100-200 meters above sea level. In the village there is a Wayang Topeng group (Mask Puppet Art Group) named: Asmarabangun, which is directly led by Karimun and his son, Taslan Harsono.
Karimun was born in Kedungmonggo Hamlet on June 9, 1919. He is the first son of Kiman or Pariyo. Karimun has no sons and adopted a son named Taslan Harsono, a dancer and mask sculptor. The Maestro, who is usually called Mbah Karimun died Sunday, February 4, 2010 at his home. Buried in Kedungmonggo Hamlet too.

1890-1940
Performing artists: Serun, function of wayang masks: village clean, status of village-owned associations; the function of serving gebyak suguh.
1940-1970
Performing artists: Kiman (Pariyo), and Karimun, function of wayang masks: village clean, ruwatan, nadhar; enliven weddings and circumcisions; village property status; response gebyak presentation function.
1970-2000
Performing artists: Karimun and Taslan Harsono; function of wayang masks: village clean, ruwatan, nadhar; enliven weddings and circumcisions; busking; festivals and appreciation; private association status; the function of the presentation: gebyak rejecting the balance, gebyak response, gebyak singing.
To improve his skills, Taslan had attended training in carving masks in Denpasar Bali in 1979. Together with Chattam AR, Taslan, in that year also had time to become a student at Padepokan Bagong Kussudiarjo (Yogyakarta). Furthermore, the name of the Mask Association in Kedungmonggo Village changed to Asmarabangun. It was during this period that Mask Kedungmonggo made a lot of progress. Various festivals or cultural events in various cities were followed. The Malang Regency Culture Service then asked for assistance from Chattam AR and Taslan Harsono to foster art teachers for elementary, junior and senior high schools in Malang Regency. Support began to flow. The Faculty of Language and Arts Education IKIP Malang in 1994 provided mask carving training.
2000-2020
Performing artists: Suroso and Tri Handoyo; the function of wayang masks: clean the village, enliven weddings and circumcisions, festivals and appreciation; association status: organization; serving function; gebyak suguh, gebyak responses. During this period, Kedungmonngo Mask received quite a number of awards at the national level. In 2013 the group participated in the Southeast Asian Panji Festival in Bangkok, Thailand.
About the Album
This album was produced in 1983 by Jayabaya Record at Jl. Brigjen Katamso (formerly Jl. Kasin Kulon) Number 23 Malang City. This label is active in producing recordings of East Javanese traditional art. The work of the Asmarabangun Wayang Topeng Studio, led by Mr. Karimun, was supported by dance stylists Tulus Harsono and Chattam Amat Redjo. Both of them died in 1996 and 2013. The drummer, Pak Kasdu, also died in 1995. Mask art observer, Dr. Robby Hidayat, M.Sn, (Malang State University) added information on the names of other artists who played a role in this album. They are Mrs. Suard and Mrs. Siami as sinden, Buari (kenong and gong), Jiin (saron), Samat (peking), Denis Suwarno (demung), Sumantri (Bonang).
The title of this album, as written on the cover, is Bapang Mask Dance, but actually there are 6 types of dance music in this album. The other five dances are Sekarsari Dance, Patih Mask Dance, Beskalan Grebeg Dance and Remo Dance. Each dance has its own character. Bapang dance tells the story of Raden Bapang Joyosentiko. There was a successful regeneration at the Asmarabangun Wayang Topeng Asmarabangun Studio in this Kedongmonggo village. Starting from Mbah Serun (1890-1940) to Mbah Kiman. Furthermore, Mbah Kiman (1940-1970) continued to Mbah Karimun. From Mbah Karimun (1970-2000) to Taslan Harsono. Furthermore, after Taslan Harsono died, the next successor was Suroso and Tri Handoyo until now (2021).

Biography
Kedungmonggoadalahnamasebuah pedukuhan di Kelurahan Karangpandan, KecamatanPakisaji, Kabupaten Malang. Daerah ini terletak kurang lebih 10 km disebelah selatan kota Malang. Untuk sampai ke Kedungmonggo melewati jalan raya Malang-Blitar, setelah sampai pertigaan Bendo, lanjut ke barat kurang lebih 1 km. Daerah ini terletak pada ketinggian antara 100-200 meter di atas permukaan air laut.Di desa tersebut terdapat grup Wayang Topeng yang bernama: Asmarabangun, yang langsung dipimpin oleh Karimun dan putranya, Taslan Harsono.
Karimun lahir di Dusun Kedungmonggo padatanggal9 Juni 1919.Merupakan anak laki-laki pertama dariKiman atau Pariyo. Karimun tidak memiliki anak laki-lakidan mengadopsi seorang anak bernama Taslan Harsono, seorang penari dan pemahat topeng.Maestro topeng Malangan, yang biasanyadipanggilMbah Karimun wafat Minggu, 4 Februari 2010 di rumahnya. Dimakamkan di Dusun Kedungmonggo juga.
