Pierre Georges Henry or Pierre Henry (Born in Paris, December 9, 1927 – July 5, 2017) was a French composer. He is considered a pioneer of musique concrète. He also has been acknowledged as a key figure in the development of electro-acoustic and electronic music.
Musique concrète is a type of music composition that utilizes recorded sounds as raw material. Sounds are often modified through the application of audio effects and tape manipulation techniques. It can feature sounds derived from recordings of musical instruments, the human voice, and the natural environment, as well as those created using synthesizers and computer-based digital signal processing. Musique concrète would influence many popular musicians, including The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Frank Zappa.
