Lokanata's LP Catalog

0

This catalog presents the results of the search for serial codes of Museum Musik Indonesia’s Lokanata LP collections based on the production year. Some of Lokananta’s LP collections did not include the production year. Therefore, this research is important to find out the validity period of the copyright. Lokananta is a record company owned by the Indonesian government, which was famous from 1957 to 1985. Most of Lokananta’s LP works contain traditional Indonesian music such as gamelan, gending, klenengan, etc. The Museum Musik Indonesia and Lokananta have a long history of collaborative relationships, especially in documenting and preserving Indonesian musical works. Several years ago, the Museum Musik Indonesia and Lokananta collaborated to preserve the cover of the Lokananta’s LP. It is known that when Lokananta released and distributed their recordings to the public through several radios, they did not cover some of their LPs with proper covers.

“Many collections of LPs are in poor condition. Worse still, they (LP) were 'naked' in the Lokananta’s warehouse” (Zakaria et al., 2016). The cover of the new LP that is preserved includes the identity of the LP, including the name of the artist/singer/group, album, label, year/country of origin, recording code, donor, date of the donation, and registration number. You can see the cover of the LP above in the catalog. The submission of this final project certificate could not be done without the support of the Director of the Museum Musik Indonesia, Mr. Hengki Herwanto, who has given me permission to participate in this program. I would also like to thank UNESCO Bangkok and Creative Commons, in particular, Jennryn Wetzler and Evelin Heidel (Scann) who initiated the program, provided opportunities, supported, and guided me through the challenging times of completing this training
