BIOGRAPHY
Black Brothers (1976) is a band consisting of six musicians from Papua Island, namely Hengky MS ‘Mirantoneng Sumanti’ (Lead Vocal & Guitar), Benny Bettay (Bass), Jochie Pattipeiluhu (Keyboard/Organ), Amry Kahar (Trump), Stevie Mambor (Drums & Vocals), David Rumagesan (Saxophone & Vocals). Andi Ayamiseba completes the formation of this pop, rock band as the manager.
Black Brothers’ first album paved the way for Black Brother to become one of Indonesia’s top bands. One of the songs created by Hengky MS in the album, entitled “The Story of a Pramuria” had become a controversy because it was considered very identical to Charles Hutagulung. Despite being colored by various controversies, they still continue to work and are increasingly recognized by Indonesian music lovers.
On December 28, 1976, the Black Brothers were recorded to have performed a duel meet with loud music at Istora Senayan with SAS, a rock trio from Surabaya. The Black Brothers performed a Papuan song entitled “Huembello” which was played in a hard rock style. Together with the Freedom music group and the Bani Adam group, they performed in Bandung in 1977. The Black Brothers are unique in their music, that is, they prefer to bring hard rock-themed music on stage, but tend to carry pop music in the albums they make.
In 1979 the Black Brothers underwent a personnel change with the release of Hengky MS (Lead Vocal & Guitar) and David Rumagesan (Saxophone & Vocal) Substituting for Vocal was (Vocalist and Bass player in the Black Papas Band) Sandy Bettay followed by Augustinus Rumwaropen ( Guitar from the band Coconuts/Black List) and brothers Karim & Iskandar Assor on the trombone, trumpet and saxophone. This formation is often called Black Bros’79. They produced two albums, namely the album Perdana & Hening.
After that Hengky MS (Lead Vocal & Guitar) rejoined the group when the Black Brothers would “move” abroad (Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Solomon Island, the Netherlands and Australia) with members Hengky MS (Vocal & Guitar), Yochie Phu ( Keyboard), Benny Bettay (Bass), Stevie Mambor (Drums & Vocals), August Rumwaropen (Lead Guitar & Vocals), William Ayamiseba (Percusion).
About Album
This Sajojo Cassette album by the Black Brothers was produced by the record company Irama Tara which was released in 1995. It contains 7 tracks on each side, this album is a re-release of the previous Black Brothers album, all songs are original, but on this album all songs are recorded as dance remixes because because this music aims to accompany physical fitness gymnastics lessons.
Story
The Black Brothers recorded this album in the local language to introduce their remote area in the easternmost part of Indonesia, namely Papua, where they live and socialize there with different customs from other regions in Papua Island.

Black Brothers (1976) adalah grup band beranggotakan enam pemusik asal irian jaya Papua, yakni Hengky MS ‘Mirantoneng Sumanti’ (Lead Vocal & Guitar), Benny Bettay (Bass), Jochie Pattipeiluhu (Keyboard/Organ), Amry Kahar (Trumpet), Stevie Mambor (Drum & Vocal), David Rumagesan (saksofon & Vocal). Andi Ayamiseba menjadi melengkapi formasi grup band yang beraliran musik pop, rock ini sebagai manager.
Album pertama Black Brothers membuka jalan bagi Black Brother menjadi salah satu grup band papan atas Indonesia. Salah satu lagu ciptaan Hengky MS dalam album tersebut yang berjudul “Kisah Seorang Pramuria” sempat menjadi kontroversi karena dianggap sangat identik dengan Charles Hutagulung. Meskipun diwarnai berbagai kontroversi, mereka tetap terus berkarya dan semakin dikenal oleh penikmat musik Indonesia.
Tanggal 28 Desember 1976, Black Brothers tercatat pernah tampil duel meet musik keras di Istora Senayan dengan SAS, trio rock asal Surabaya. Black Brothers membawakan lagu bernuansa Papua berjudul “Huembello” yang dimainkan dengan gaya hard rock. Bersama grup musik Freedom dan Grup Bani Adam, mereka tampil di Bandung pada Tahun 1977. Black Brothers memiliki keunikan dalam bermusik, yakni lebih suka membawakan musik bertema hard rock ketika diatas panggung, tetapi cenderung mengusung musik pop dalam album-album yang mereka buat.
BLACK BROS Di tahun 1979 Black Brothers mengalami pergantian personil dengan keluarnya Hengky M.S (Lead Vocal & Guitar) dan David Rumagesan (Saksofon & Vocal) Masuk menggantikan pada Vocal adalah (Vocalis dan pemain Bass grup Band Black Papas) Sandy Bettay kemudian diikuti Augustinus Rumwaropen (Guitar dari grup Band Coconuts/Black List) dan kakak beradik Karim & Iskandar Assor pada trombone,trumpet dan saksofon formasi ini disering disebut Black Bros’79.Mereka menghasilkan dua album yaitu album Perdana & Hening
BLACK BROTHERS Setelah itu Hengky M.S (Lead Vocal & Guitar) kembali bergabung disaat Black Brothers akan “hijrah” keluar negeri (Papua New Guinea,Vanuatu,Solomon Island,Belanda dan Australia) dengan beranggotakan Hengky M.S(Vocal & Guitar),Yochie Phu(Keyboard),Benny Bettay (Bass),Stevie Mambor (Drum & Vocal),August Rumwaropen (Lead Guitar & Vocal),William Ayamiseba (Percusion)
